Our sizable adult staff has a wealth of experience in working with children. Our coaches, instructors and group leaders are highly trained, skilled professionals who bring their expertise to each camper every day. Our counselors are selected for their personal qualities, their love of camp and their strong interest in working with young people. They are caring, reliable, enthusiastic and excellent role models. While all camps boast of caring counselors, we ensure that campers are not forgetting the smaller details of living at camp, like brushing their teeth, putting on sunscreen, changing their linens, getting enough rest and getting their clothes into their laundry bags. Many of our counselors have grown up with us, lending continuity and tradition to all that we do.
The Eagle Hill Camp Leadership includes:

Camp Director
Jesse Scherer
Jesse Scherer has lived his entire life in and around the camping business. Starting as the youngest camper at Eagle Hill and rising through the ranks to become a waiter, counselor, Group Leader, Head Counselor and Camp Director, Jesse's years of camp experience at Eagle Hill serve him well as he leads the camp through it's fifth decade of operation under his family's ownership. After receiving an undergrad and law degree, Jesse has spent the last 20 years running camp on a fulltime basis, recruiting campers and staff, developing the camp program during the off-season and directing the operations during the summer at camp itself. Jesse takes the time to get to know each camper personally and cares about his or her individual needs.
Associate Director
Toba Duggan
Toba joins her brother Jesse each summer as an integral part of the management of Camp Eagle Hill. As the Operations Manager, Toba is involved with overseeing the workings of the camp's kitchen, dining room, office, canteen, infirmary and laundry service. Toba is a 3rd Grade Teacher with the Mount Vernon Board of Education and the mother of three daughters, all of whom have been campers for many years at Eagle Hill. As a former camper and longtime staff member, Toba understands the value and worthwhile nature of the kind of camp experience children can have at Camp Eagle Hill.
Girl's Head Counselor
Jill Kaufman
Summer camp has been one of Jill's passions as far back as she can remember. She grew up at her childhood sleep away camp, starting as a camper and continuing on as a Counselor and returning as a Group Leader. Jill has worked with children of all ages in after school programs and, as the mother of 2 boys, has been very involved with the athletic program in her community, coaching both baseball and basketball teams.
Jill feels that nothing can compare to the sleep away camp experience and that Camp Eagle Hill offers campers a truly special summer. With its extensive program and warm, caring, hands-on staff, Eagle Hill is a fabulous place for children to grow, learn and have fun!
Boy's Head Counselor
Dan Konnen
Dan has been with Eagle Hill since 2000. He has served as a General Counselor, Hockey Instructor and Group Leader before becoming the Boy's Head Counselor. Dan is involved with recruiting and training our staff and keeps in touch with campers and parents during the off-season. Dan holds a degree in Music Education from Grove City College in Pennsylvania and is active in teaching American Red Cross classes in CPR and First Aid. Dan's goal is to give every child who comes to camp a successful experience and have them feel, as he does, that Eagle Hill is their second home.
Program Director
Ray Garcia
Ray started as a camper at Eagle Hill in the early 90's, continued on to become a C.I.T. and counselor and now serves as the Eagle Hill Program Director. Ray is a graduate of SUNY Old Westbury where he earned a degree in Elementary Education. Ray currently works in the Scarsdale, New York school system. For Ray, the meaning of camp is all about the strong bond that develops between friends, the fun that is experienced, and the memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. Eagle Hill provides a warm and safe environment for campers and staff alike.
