  1. Kids QuestionsWhat is the first day of camp like?
The first day of camp is fun and exciting. Once you arrive at camp, we'll introduce you to your counselors who will live with you and the other people in your bunk. If you come with a friend, or come back year after year, you'll know someone in your group. If you don't know anyone, we'll place you in a group with other new campers. Next, you'll begin to move in. You'll get the opportunity to choose what bed you would like, set up your cubby with all your clothes, and get a chance to unwind. Later that day we'll give you an opportunity to tour the camp, and that night you'll see our famous camp staff talent show where you'll meet all the people who will make your summer great!

  2. How easy is it to make friends?
Camp is a great place to make friends. Often you will find the people in your bunk will like many of the same things you do. You'll have lots of things to talk about and will discover many new things together while you're at camp. As a result of everything you'll do together, friendships start and grow at camp.

  3. Can I be in the same group with my friend from home?
You bet. If you come to camp with someone, we'll make sure you're in the same bunk. This doesn't mean you have to hang out with this friend all the time though, you're going to make a lot of new friends.

  4. What are my counselors going to be like?
Every bunk gets two great counselors, one might be teaching a sport like basketball or a hobby like ceramics and one will be assigned to be with your group throughout the day. They are all very friendly and easy to talk to and will help you with whatever you need at camp.

  5. Besides my counselors who else will help me?
Our Director makes sure everything runs the way it should and that you have everything you need to have a wonderful summer. Our Head Counselors supervise each side of camp (boys and girls). The Group Leaders look after smaller divisions on camp, and they supervise your Counselors to give you a great camp experience. Our Program Heads come up with great activities for you from morning until bedtime. Any of these people will be glad to help you at any time during the summer.

  6. What's a typical day like?
A typical day starts off with wake-up and then breakfast. After breakfast, you have some time to straighten your bunk up and get everything you need for your morning. There are three activity periods in the morning, each one is about 50 minutes long. Lunch is next, followed by rest hour. That's the time you get to just kick back, write a letter, relax, and recharge your batteries. Three more activities in the afternoon, including free swim, so you have the chance to hop in the pool or lake. Shower hour is after all the daytime activities are done, so you can clean up before dinner. Evening activities finish up our day, time for a little refreshments, and before you know it, it's time for bed. Sample Schedule

  7. What else happens at camp?
There's so much that happens, it's impossible to list it all! Camp has so many different activities. One day a week, we have a special event, like WORLD CUP SOCCER or QUEST or our FINAL FOUR event. Another day of the week, we take you out of camp on a trip to the beach, a baseball game, water parks or even an amusement park. We have overnights at our campout site, barbeques at the picnic area, Tribals and Olympics competitions, Intercamp tournaments, Visiting Day, theatrical productions, special awards nights.....just too much to list it all here!

We always celebrate your birthday with a birthday cake. We also like to recognize you when you do something important. We keep a memory of your summer with us forever with traditions like bunk plaques that decorate our dining hall and canteen. We give out awards to our outstanding campers and athletes at the end of each summer, and for those who have hung around with us for a while, we honor you with a five year jacket!

  8. Do we get to choose our own activities?
Sometimes. Activities, like sports, are scheduled for you, so you'll have a chance to play with your friends. Other times of the day, you have the option to pick your activity. The older you are, the more activities you can choose, but everybody gets to choose at least one activity every day. Sample Schedule

  9. What goes on during rainy days?
Luckily, we have a lot of places to go and activities for you to do if it rains. We have a large gymnasium for big games like basketball, volleyball, or other fun things. We also have a game room with air hockey, pop-a-shot basketball, knock hockey, and other games. We could show a movie in our Lodge or open our video games room, and the arts Barn is open on rainy days as well. If it rains, sometimes we take a trip out of camp to the movies, bowling alley, or for ice cream.

  10. Kids QuestionsWhat's up with the Intercamp tournaments? Can I sign up?
Intercamp Tournaments are where we play other camps in a sport. We play everything from soccer, softball, tennis, hockey, basketball, and swimming to chess. Tournaments are organized by age, so you'll be playing kids your own age. They're optional, anyone can sign up.

  11. What goes on at the Canteen (refreshments area)?
Just some time to relax, grab a coke or sprite, maybe a Snickers bar or ice cream, and socialize. You'll be there with the other campers your age so you can talk, dance to some music, play video games, and just have a good time unwinding from your long, exciting day.

  12. How competitive do you need to be at Eagle Hill?
You don't have to be competitive at all. Some of our campers play on our tournament teams and really love to compete, and some of our campers are more excited about playing sports just for the fun of it or prefer doing many other things. We have a lot of activities for different people, so whether you're looking to compete or not; you'll find a place to fit right in.

  13. Can guys and girls ever hang out together?
Sure. Camp is co-ed, so boys and girls spend some time together. For most group activities, you will be participating with other kids your age from your side of camp, while "options" periods are co-ed, meals are co-ed, many of our evening activities are co-ed, and when you go to visit the canteen (our refreshments area), you can always hang out with both boys and girls.

  14. Will I see my brother or sister at camp?
If you want. You may have some daily activities together. You will see your brother or sister at meals, you may enjoy some options periods together, and some of our evening activities will be for the entire camp. That means you can see them as much or as little as you want.

  15. How do I keep in touch with my parents?
Two times a week, there is time set aside for you to write a letter home. If your parents signed up for the email service, you can reply to your parents' email. If you want to speak to them on the phone, your parents can arrange for phone calls at camp once a week or so.

  16. Can I change my session and stay longer at camp?
Of course. If your parents enrolled you for just the July session, you have the opportunity to extend your stay through the entire summer. This can be done on Visiting Day (at the end of the first 3 weeks) or at any time during your stay at camp by having your parents speak with the Camp Director.

  17. What are meals like?
At meals, you'll have plenty of choices. Each day there is a varied menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have vegetarian choices and a salad bar at lunch and dinner. Some nights we have a cookout outdoors at our barbecue area. All of our meals are served buffet-style so you can easily have extra portions of those things that you enjoy.

  18. Do I have to clean the bunk?
Yes, you will have to help clean the bunk, but not by yourself. Everyone in the bunk pitches in and does it together. Don't worry, there is always someone in your cabin that is willing to lend a hand.

  19. When do we wear camp clothing?
The only time we ask you to wear your camp T-shirt is when you are representing our camp! For example, when we go on a trip, when your parents come to visit you, or when you compete in an Intercamp tournament.

  20. Will I need any spending money?
Some. When we go out on a trip, you can take money from your bank account to spend for snacks and souvenirs. Everything in camp is taken care of for you, so you won't need any money in the bunks.

  21. What about my dirty clothes?
Once a week, we pick up your laundry to be cleaned. A few days later, it comes back clean, dry, and folded. All you have to do is put it away and you're set for another week.
